Celebrity Serve Draws PDF Print

Folks dined out all day yesterday to help raise funds for the Make a Wish Foundation. They were thanked for their trouble with a little celebrity service.

The second annual Celebrity Serve began at 6am yesterday with breakfast at the Mountain House and continued on through the day at 18 area restaurants. Created by area restaurateur Jack Pepper and businessman Tim Baxter as a way to give back to the community, Celebrity Serve enlists area notables to serve as waitstaff at local restaurants in order to draw business. The day or night’s proceeds are donated. This year, they teamed up with ASU sorority Chi Omega to benefit Make a Wish…Chi O’s official fundraising recipient. All of the funds raised yesterday will go towards granting the wishes of Watauga County children who face life-threatening illness. Last year, the Logull  family shared son Matthew’s wish to go to Washington. The sixth grader had wanted to meet the president for a long time. Make a Wish also fulfilled older sister Sara’s wish for a maltipoo puppy.

And younger sister Rachel hopes to have her wish of a cruise fulfilled soon. Results of yesterday’s and last night’s Celebrity Serve should be available soon.
