An area man has been arrested on charges related to a number of Boone break-in cases that stretch back to 2010. Justin Wayne Newberry, age 26, was charged Tuesday with three counts of felony breaking and entering, three counts of felony larceny after breaking and entering, one count of felonious safecracking,
and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. Newberry is alleged to have committed two break-ins to a Sunset Drive residence in January and June of 2010. He is also alleged to have broken into the Brown Brothers Motor Mart on the Highway 105 extension in February of 2010. Investigators received information that Newberry was involved in the incidents and, in an interview with police, Newberry admitted his involvement. Newberry, who was already in the Watauga Detention Center for failing to appear in court, was taken before a Watauga County magistrate and given a $200,000 secured bond on these charges and an October 26th court date.
