Two children were transported from the scene of a hit-and-run accident near Mabel School this afternoon.  The 2:35pm incident was at Mabel School Road at US 421, an SUV struck by another vehicle that fled the scene.  Watauga Medics carefully removed the two children from the vehicle while Watauga Sheriff’s deputies searched for the suspect vehicle, reporting that they had that vehicle stopped south of the scene.  The two children did not appear to have life-threatening injuries, according to first responders, but they were taken for treatment to Watauga Medical Center.
