A woman was injured in a hit-and-run collision on West King—US 421—at the NC 105 by-pass.  The woman was able to report the crash to dispatchers, who gave out a BOLO for a green Nissan Pathfinder, while a witness, traveling north on 421 through Vilas, called in that the suspect vehicle turned onto the Boone end of Linville Creek Road.  Witnesses further described the vehicle as having oversized tires and some windows covered with plastic.  A first responder on the scene called in the rush for Watauga Medics, as the woman was injured, and Boone Fire joined Medics in carefully removing the woman from her pickup truck for transport to Watauga Medical Center.  Watauga deputies scoured the area as far out as the Tennessee line, but no report of an arrest has come.
