Watauga County To Sell Two Historic Houses and To Buy Property For High School PDF Print

Watauga County may sell two houses with long histories in the high country. The Commissioners have discussed plans to sell the house commonly referred to as the Brookshire house currently located on the Brookshire Park property.

This sale would not include the land and would require that the house be moved to another location. The commissioners have also discussed selling the Edmiston House recently purchased as part of the new High School property purchase. While the new high school will require some of the land included in that purchase, the Edmiston home itself and surrounding yard could be saved. Rather than use the historic property as construction space to store dirt and equipment, the commissioners are discussing selling the property in order to preserve it. The commissioners have also approved purchasing an additional 2.6-acre purchase to add footage to the parking and tennis court areas. This property is located on Delmar Street and owned by the Ray Dell Greene family. The purchase would cost about $200,000 and is contingent on a title review and document research.
