Elon Director of Athletics Dave Blank has announced that Kathy Babcock is the new interim softball coach of the Phoenix.

Bocock has been an assistant coach at Elon the past two years after working as a volunteer assistant during the 2008 season. Bocock helped lead Phoenix softball to its most successful season in history as Elon won the 2010 Southern Conference Tournament and advanced to its first-ever NCAA Tournament. The Phoenix produced a program-best 38 wins last spring and was the first women's team from Elon to win a SoCon Tournament championship.
Bocock was a volunteer assistant in 2008, where she helped with the academic progress of student-athletes, on-campus recruiting functions, practice and game preparations. Babcock replaces Patti Raduenz, who resigned in July to pursue  other career opportunities.
Raduenz produced of 277 wins during her 11-year stay with the program. The Phoenix surpassed 30 wins in each of the last two seasons, and seven players earn all-conference honors during that stretch.
