East King Shuffle PDF Print

Driving East King Street near New Market will be an interesting exercise, as road construction in the area is shifting phases.  Last night, Boone Police directed traffic as the barrels were moved and the pattern changed, and there will be more of that today, as traffic is moved to newly-paved lanes and the older surfaces are paved. Then the pattern will repeat, as the entire project gets a final surface.  Hopes are to have the road in shape for the opening of school two weeks from today, with Hardin Park and the new Watauga High right in that traffic pattern.  It was a year ago that the same project pushed through to open a number of new lanes just in time for the opening of the new High School. Work on the project closer to town is also reaching a new phase, as well, so patience and caution are urged in traveling through the area.
