West Caldwell High Principal Jeff Link has announced that the Danny Anderson era is officially over.

Anderson, who had a successful run at Starmount and West Caldwell during his 29-year coaching career, will officially retire on Monday, August 1. And Anderson, who served as the school's athletic director and men's basketball coach, will be replaced by Stephen McMasters and Hank Newson.
McMasters, who was the women's basketball coach at West for four years, has been named the new athletic director; and Newson, a native of Pennsylvania and who graduated from the Uniiversity of  West Virginia has been named the men's basketball coach at West. He has been a Warriors assistant since 2005. Anderson won 600 games in his career, which includes 431 (431-109) during his 19-year stay with the Warriors. He averaged 20 wins a year, and during one stretch his teams won 80 consecutive conference games. Watauga High is scheduled to play West Caldwell this season in Gamewell on December 6.

Rikki Ogle, who played at East Burke, is the new women's basketball coach at West Caldwell. McMasters stepped down last February.
