Madison Bumgarner and his San Francisco Giants teammates will be honored by President Barack Obama at the White House Monday.

The Giants, who won the World Series last fall (their first Fall Classic title since 1954), find themselves in first place in the National League West as they march their way into the final two months of the regular season. And Bumgarner, who earned a World Series ring last fall, threw a gem on Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Bumgarner went  7 2/3 innings, gave up an earned run on eight hits with eight strikeouts as the Giants defeated Milwaukee 2-1 at AT&T Park. The win improves Bumgarner's record to 6-9 on the year and lowers his earned-run-average to 3.56.
He has a 2.13 ERA in his last three appearances with 19 strikeouts in 21 2/3 innings. Ryan Braun drove in Milwaukee's only run with a solo home run in the first. It was his fourth home run over his last five games.
It was also the first home run Bumgarner has given up in his last eight starts, and his fifth overall.
"I just go out and pitch," Bumgarner said. "I just felt like I did a good job of just making pitches."
The Giants (59-43) own a four-game lead on Arizona in the NL West; overall, the Giants are tied with the Atlanta Braves (59-43) for the second-best record in the National League behind the Philadelphia Phillies (64-36).
Following their visit to the White House Monday, the Giants begin a six-game road trip Tuesday night in Philadelphia. Bumgarner will get his next start at Cincinnati Friday night.
