The state patrol has identified the two people hurt in the Tuesday afternoon crash that pinned a woman in the wreckage of her Volvo. The Meat Camp Road injured 60-year old Mary Maier when her 1990 Volvo was slammed in the side by the 1987 Ford pickup that 17-year old Mark Dollar was driving. Trooper Kirk Suttle said that the teen looked down while entering a curve, causing the 4:35pm accident, his truck slamming into the side of the Volvo before hitting the front of Shannon Townsend’s Chevrolet SUV.  Both women were rushed to Watauga Medical Center, but Dollar was not hurt in the wreck. Trooper Suttle said Mary Maier was transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for treatment of a severe arm injury while Townsend was released after treatment.  He cited Mark Anthony Dollar with Careless & Reckless Driving and Left of Center.   Watauga Rescue and Meat Camp firemen had to cut the roof off of the Volvo to reach Maier.
