Defensive lineman Manny Marshall, who played against Appalachian State in the NCAA I-AA (now the Football Sub-Division Championship Series) championship game in 2007, died in an auto accident in southern New Jersey Monday.

Marshall was one of three people that died in the fiery crash on Interstate 295, just 25 miles south of Philadelphia. According to the New Jersey State police, the vehicle ran off the road on Interstate 295, crashed into a tree and burst into flames. A nine-year-old boy was pulled out of the car and has been hospitalized.
Marshall, who was 24 and a native of Cheverly, Md., played 29 games (2005-07) for the Blue Hens; he was a starter on Delaware's defensive line against ASU in the 2007 national championship game.
