The Colonial Athletic Association is leading a strong push in the Football Championship Sub-Division that would give football players five years of NCAA eligibility.

The CAA coaches voted unanimously on the issue at their spring meetings. The league plans on submitting a proposal to the NCAA. The deadline is Friday.
CAA commissioner Tom Yeager said. “It’s worth a shot.” Yeager also stated that the proposal would work its way through the NCAA committees and be approved in time for the 2012 season.
The current rule gives FCS players five years of eligibility to play four seasons.
Appalachian State coach Jerry Moore, Chattanooga chancellor Roger Hart and football coach Russ Heusman, and Georgia Southern Coach Jeff Monken are among those in favor of the rule.
