Defensive lineman Jabari Fletcher hopes to play football this fall.
Fletcher, who was not selected in the National Football League draft in April, was removed as an unsigned player from the Montreal Alouettes practice squad of the Canadian Football League on July 4. That moves makes Fletcher an unsigned free agent. He was added to the roster on June 18.
Fletcher, who turned in a stellar career at Appalachian State University the last four years, put up big numbers for the Mountaineers in 2010. The All-America had 60 tackles, 16.5 tackles-for-loss, nine quarterback sacks, an interception and he also returned a fumble 40 yards for a touchdown against Furman on Black Saturday, October 30.
Fletcher was named the SoCon Defensive Player of the Week on two occasions , the SoCon Defensive Player of the Month in October, and he was named to the Walter Camp and the American Football Coaches Association All-America Teams.
He had 22 quarterback sacks, 44 tackles-for-loss and he is only one of seven players in ASU history to register 20 quarterback sacks and 40 TFL in his career.
