$10 Million Bid for Old WHS Campus Rejected PDF Print

The latest bid for the old Watauga High campus from Miller Properties—rejected by commissioners—commissioner Jim Deal said, "I don't want to let Rick Miller sit out there with nothing, that's why I suggested we reject the offer. Once we've gotten the appraisal, then I assume we as a board are going to discuss where we're going to move forward and we're going to communicate with whoever. But until that time, I don't know how we would make a counter offer."
The county does not yet have an appraisal on the property—even checking the mail late in the day yesterday, but it is expected at any time, due by July 1st.  With that information, commissioners hope to be able to counter offers for the school property with a look at the current reality of valuation.
