Lenoir-Rhyne University's Brandon Martin has been named to the 2011 CDS NCAA Division II Preseason Football All-American First Team. CDS stands for the Consensus Draft Services.

Martin, a junior defensive lineman from Roebuck, S.C., earned First-Team All-South Atlantic Conference honors last season after finishing with 22 tackles and leading the team in takedowns for a loss (nine) and quarterback sacks (7.5).
Martin was also named to the 2010 Don Hansen's NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region Third Team and helped the Bears lead the league in total defense (276.6 ypg) and finish fourth in the nation in rushing defense at 75.7 yards per outing.
Martin is the second Lenoir-Rhyne player to garner 2011 preseason All-American accolades this summer.
Senior offensive lineman Chandler Rearden (Greenwood, S.C.) was named to the Sporting News Division II Preseason All-American Team.
Both players helped the Bears (7-4 overall and 4-3 in the South Atlantic Conference) to their first winning season in 16 years in 2010.
Lenoir-Rhyne opens the 2011 season on Saturday, September 3, against Concord in Athens, W.Va., beginning at 7 p.m. L-R's first home game takes place on Saturday, September 17, against league-rival Carson-Newman starting at 7 p.m., as well.
