The Watauga Junior American Legion A Team dropped a double-header Saturday night at Maiden. Watauga (3-3) lost the opener 2-1, and lost the second game, 8-6.

And the A Team had itself to blame. Watauga left the bases loaded six times in the two-games combined. And they left them loaded in the top of the fifth in game two with the game on the line.
"We just couldn't deliver the clutch hit," said Watauga coach Bradley Rudisill. "We have a lot of chances to win both games, but we just didn't get it done. It was frustrating. Luckily, it wasn't a league game."
Chris Winkler suffered the loss in game one. He went 4 2/3 innings and gave up two runs, both unearned. Tripp Taylor suffered the loss in game two. Matt Byrum had five hits and an RBI in the double-header loss; Jesse Illich had four hits and scored a run in game two; Justin Isaacs had four hits, two runs scored and an RBI in the twinbill; Andrew Miller had a double, scored a run and had three RBI in game two; Chance Richards walked and scored a run.
Watauga returns home to play Patton Monday night at 6 pm. It will be a busy week for both the A and B Teams. The A team plays at Hibriten Tuesday, at South Caldwell Friday before closing out the week against the B Team Saturday at Pioneer Field; the B Team plays South Caldwell at home Tuesday night, plays at Patton on Thursday before its showdown with the A Team next Saturday.
