The win leaves Hickory just one-half game behind Hagerstown and Greensboro for first place in the SAL's Northern Division.
The Crawdads (37-27) scored all the runs they need by plating a pair in the second inning. Christian Villanueva led things off with a solo home run---his team-leading seventh of the season---and Andrew Clark followed with a double and came around to score on an RBI single by Alejandro Selen, staking Hickory to a 2-0 lead.
