Watauga B Team Comes Up Short PDF Print

The Watuaga American Junior Legion B Team was victimized by Valdese Tuesday night at Draughn High School in Burke County.

Valdese swept the double-header, winning game one 4-2 and winning game two, 4-0. Carson Isaacs paced Watauga (0-4) in the double-header loss. He had three hits, a walk and he drove in a run.
Trevor Eggers was 1-3 with an RBI in game-one; Andy Gilliam had two hits in five trips in the two games combined. Steadman Sauls had a base hit and scored a run; Brandon Warren was hit by a pitch and came around to score.
Watauga also received two decent pitching performances on the mound. Matt Lambert suffered the loss in game two. He went four innings and gave up two earned runs with three strikeouts; Hunter Isaacs got the loss in game one. He went four innings and gave up four earned runs on three hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
"Hunter is going to be something special," said Watauga coach Dustin Kerley. "He's just an example of the young talent we have. This is a learning experience for a lot of these players. Playing these games is giving them a chance to develop their skills in game situations."
The Watauga B Team travels to West Caldwell Friday night for a 5:30 pm double-header.
