Crawdads power past Tourists, 12-3 PDF Print

The Hickory Crawdads tied a season-high with seven runs in the third inning and cruised to the 12-3 win against the Asheville Tourists on Sunday, before 1,480 fans at Historic McCormick Field, despite 53 minutes rain delay. 

Hickory has now won six of its last seven games moving into a tie for second place with Greensboro in the North Divsion of the South Atlantic League; the Crawdad also find themselves two games behind the first-place Hagerstown with seven games remaining in the first half of the season.
The Crawdads (35-27) raced in front by exploding for 10 runs through the first four innings.  It all started with Jonathan Roof's' two-run double in the top of the second for the early 2-0 lead. 
The 'Dads broke it open with seven runs in the third. Jurickson Profar, Odubel Herrera and Tomas Telis had consecutive singles loading the bases with nobodyout. before Andrew Clark had a two-run single off the center-field wall that made it 4-0.  Telis scored on a wild pitch to make it 5-0, Richmond doubled, and with runners at second and third, Jake Skole followed a two-run double of his own, making it 7-0.  Alejandro Selen closed out the frame with a two-run homer, giving the Crawdads the 9-0 lead.
Hickory scored its 10th run in the fourth on Skole's second double of the game, making it a 10-0 lead for the 'Dads. Asheville (30-33) finally got on the board against winning pitcher Cody Buckel (2-2) in the fifth.
Christian Adames hit the first of his two home runs  on the day in the fifth. cutting the lead to 10-1 in Buckel's final inning of work. The 'Dads stretched it back to a 10-run lead when Roof scored on an error in the seventh.
Asheville added a pair of solo home runs against Ben Henry.  Adames hit his second long ball in the bottom of the seventh, and Corey Dickerson went deep in the eighth, cutting the Crawdads lead to 11-3.
Selen answered with a solo home run of his own in the top of the ninth, his second homer of the game, and Jorge Marban dealt a three-up, three-down bottom of the ninth to close the win for the Crawdads.
NOTES: The Crawdads continue their series in Asheville on Monday at 7:05 p.m. 
The 'Dads return home on Thursday, June 16 against the Charleston RiverDogs.  It will be Thirsty Thursday, presented by Buffalo Wild Wings with $1 can beers and Pepsis!  Also, don't miss the post-game concert by Norva Jean Dreams!  First pitch is at 7 p.m., gates open at 6 p.m.
