Fires injured several area residents on Saturday night, including a Linville fire and one in Foscoe. The Watauga fire was dispatched at 7:15, several departments sent to 125 Fred Hartley Road off NC 105.(photo by George Barton) The Watauga Fire Marshall’s office said that the wrong burner turned on lead to the fire, and caused two small children to be taken to and treated at Watauga Medical Center.  The house was filled with smoke as firefighters arrived on the scene, and the children were transported to Watauga Medical Center as a precaution to check for smoke inhalation.

Two families will be helped by the American Red Cross and will be housed away from their home until the structure can be aired out.

Injuries were reported in Linville just before 10pm as a house on Watauga Avenue was found on fire.  First responding units turned around fire units arriving outside those on the scene, but called for medics to respond emergency traffic to transport injured to the hospital.  That fire is still under investigation.
