The Appalachian State University baseball team hopes to keep its championship hopes alive Friday against Furman in an elimination game in the Southern Conference baseball tournament at Riley Park in the Charleston, SC.The Mountaineers survived Thursday morning as they defeated UNC-Greensboro, 6-4. Jack Myers and Nathan Hyatt were among the heros for ASU. Myers set the table for Daniel Kassouf's RBI grounder in the first and he knocked in the game-winning run with a single in the seventh.
Hyatt carried ASU (32-26) into the seventh inning before he was lifted. Hyatt gave up four earned runs, walked one and struck out four in 6 1/3 innings. The Paladins (24-32) got blasted 7-1 by Samford Thursday afternoon.

TOP-SEEDED PHOENIX ELIMINATED
Elon, the No.1 seed, was eliminated by College of Charleston Thursday afternoon. The Terriers (37-21), who dropped a 10-7 decision to Western Carolina in a 20-inning marathon Wednesday night, were bested 4-3 by the Cougars.
