There were two injuries—one serious—from a head-on wreck during the noon hour yesterday in Avery County.  The accident was on Stamey Branch Road near the Humane Society at about 12:35, the wreck discovered and reported by a trained responder who called it in by radio.

He reported two patients, an elderly woman more seriously injured, causing two ambulances and rescue to join first responders on the scene.  The elderly woman was rushed toward Cannon Memorial, but the medics on board then diverted to Watauga Medical Center after assessing her injuries.  The state patrol is investigating, but their report is not available on the crash.
