Crawdads Rout Braves, 15-5 PDF Print

The Hickory Crawdads scored a season-high 15 runs and pounded out a season-best 16 hits in a 15-5 blowout victory against the Rome Braves, before 2,102 fans at State Mutual Stadium in Rome on Monday night.

The Crawdads (24-20) jumped on the Braves for a pair of runs in the top of the first against losing pitcher Ronan Pacheco.  Jurickson Profar led off with a double and scored when Tomas Telis reached on a two-base throwing error by Rome SS Jarred Frierson.  One out later, Andrew Clark brought in Telis with a run-scoring single for an early 2-0 lead.
The Braves tied it up with a two-run rally in the bottom of the first.  With runners at first and third and two outs, Jake Dalfonso and Christian Bethancourt delivered back-tot-back singles that tied the game at 2-2.
But Hickory broke  the game open with five runs in the fifth.  Profar smacked his second double of the game and he came arouind to score on an RBI double by Telis.  One out later, Telis scored on ground ball out by Clark, who reached on a fielder's choice.  A walk to Christian Villanueva and a base hit by Jake Skole loaded the bases for Alejandro Selen, who belted a three-run double for a 7-2 lead.
Rome scored twice in the bottom of  the fifth before Colby Killian, who got the win in Monday's game, took over and shut things down.. Leading 7-4, the Crawdads put the game out of reach by scoring four times in the top of the seventh.  Odubel Herrera had an RBI single up the middle and Profar followed with a two-run triple making it 10-4. A run-scoirng double by Telis closed out the scoring.
A solo home run by Dalfonso in the bottom of the seventh made it 11-5, but the Crawdads scored four more runs in th top of the ninth.  Telis and Clark had RBI walks, Villanueva had a two-run single.
NOTES: The 'Dads return to L.P. Frans to kick off a four-game home series against the Charleston River Dogs on Wed., May 25 at 7 p.m.!
