It was a tough decision, but when it was all said and done, senior John Cannon of Mountain Heritage High finally made his choice.

Cannon, an all-state performer has committed to the University of Georgia. He made his verbal commitment on April 30. And he made it officail by signing his national letter of intent on May 2. Cannon selected the Bulldogs over North Carolina and Northwestern.
According to his coach Barry Johnson, it was a tough decision for Cannon, who was really considering Northwestern and possibly being a walk-on at North Carolina. But Cannon chose Georgia, which is led by Mark Fox, who just completed his second season as head coach of the Bulldogs.
Cannon, who stands in at 6-foot-10 and weighs 225 pounds, is also the fifth recruit Fox has reeled in. Four of those recruits, including Cannon, are out of state. Cannon, who also has a 4.3 grade-point-average, averaged 23 points and 12 rebounds a game for Mountain Heritage last season.
He led the Cougars to the Class 2A Western Regional Finals, and he was named to the NCPreps.com and North Carolina-Associated Press All-State team.
Cannon was selected to play in the Carolina Classic All-Star game in Myrtle Beach, SC, on March 19. He captured North Carolina's MVP honor, and he scored nine points and pulled down 12 rebounds in that game. He will play in the North Carolina Coaches Association East-West Senior All-Star game July 18 at the Greensboro Coliseum.
