The two people killed in an accident Sunday afternoon just north of Lenoir have been identified.  The single-vehicle accident was on Abington Road, about 2 miles out of Lenoir at about 4:25, the vehicle igniting after the crash, burning the victims beyond recognition. The state patrol identified the two as Ronie Pennell, the driver, and the passenger, Tamar Kirksey, both died in the crash.  The Highway Patrol said the SUV careened off Abington Road, down a steep embankment where it hit a tree and caught fire. The state patrol is investigating whether a medical condition might have lead to the crash.
