Not even Mother Nature could stop the Watauga High track teams on Saturday.

Despite nasty weather and strong winds, the WHS track teams not only hosted a meet, but they dominated the field and won in convincing fashion at Jack Groce Stadium. The WHS women won 13 events and dominated the field with 186 points. Daniel Boone High School (from Gray, Tennessee) was a distant second with 106. The WHS men bested the field winning 11 events, racking up 158 points. Daniel Boone finished second with 117.
Mo Gore, Jordan Pineda and Sydney cook were the only dual winners of the day for WHS. Gore won both the 100 (11.16)-meter dash and the long jump (20-1.75); Cook won the high jump (5-foot-6) and the pole vault (11-0). Pineda made it a clean sweep in the discus (153-4) and the shot put (49-1.50) But WHS pretty much had an easy time  dominating the field.
The WHS men won the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relays; Daniel Osborne won the 1600, Scott Mermel won the 200, Eric Dehus won the high jump and Reid Harris won the pole vault.
On the women's side, Julia Roberts won the 400, Darby Middlebrook the 800 (2:20), Doria Kosmala the 1600, Taylor Nelson the 3200, Laura Gulliver the 100-meter high hurdles, Margaret Anagnos won the 300 hurdles, Debra Domermuth won the triple jump and Kathryn Smith won the discus.
