WHS Track Competes At Taco Bell Invitational PDF Print

The Watauga High track teams competed at the Taco Bell Invitational at Spring Valley High School in Columbia, SC Friday and Saturday.

The women finished in seventh with 22 points; the men were 48th with 4.5 points. The 4x800 relay team, Darby Middlebrook, Sydney Cook and Tara Trivette were WHS's highest place finishers.
The 4x800 relay finished third during Friday night's opening round. They turned in a time of 9:39.66. Middlebrook finished fourth in the mile. She completed the race in 5:09.33. Cook and Trivette finished in a fourth place tie in the high jump, clearing the bar with an effort of five-feet, two inches. Cook also finished in a sixth-place tie with Laura Gulliver in the pole vault. They both jumped 10-6.
Julia Roberts was fifth in the 800-meter run (2:21.23). Kasey Jones was ninth in the 100 hurdles in 15.69.
Jordan Pineda was the highest place finisher on the men's side. He was fifth in the shot put with a throw of 51-7. He was 11th in the discus. Reid Harris tied for eighth in the pole vault with an effort of 13-6.
The WHS track teams will host a meet on Wednesday. They compete at the Appalachian State University Invitational next Saturday.
