Pineda Selected To Play In East-West Game PDF Print

Good things happen to those who wait.

Jordan Pineda, who went through a frustrating senior year at Watauga High, is finally beginning to reap the rewards for all his hard work and dedication the last four years. Pineda, who will grey-shirt at Wake Forest University beginning in January of 2012, has been selected to play in the East-West Senior All-Star Game.
The game will be played at Grimsley High School's Jameison Stadium on Wednesday, July 20. Pineda is the first WHS player to be selected for the East-West game since Casey Augustine (now a red-shirt sophomore at Wingate University, a Division II school in the South Atlantic Conference) in 2008.
"It's a big honor for Jordan," said WHS coach Tim Pruitt. "I'm very happy for him. It's nice that he was selected for this game. I really felt he had a great chance to play in the Shrine Bowl last year, but he was nursing a bad hip and that probably cost him that chance."
Bad hip and all, Pineda still put together a stellar season for a team that only won three games last fall. He made 90 tackles, he had 16.5 tackles-for-loss and six quarterback sacks. In his career, Pineda made 227 stops, 59.5 TFL and 26 quarterback sacks. He also forced seven fumbles, had five fumble recoveries and two interceptions.
Pineda must report to Greensboro on July 14 for the East-West game. Former WHS coach Adrian Snow, now in his fourth year at West Forsyth, and Tom Harper of Alexander Central are assistant coaches on the West squad.
This is the 63rd annual East-West game. The West leads the all-time series 36-25 with a tie. The West won last year's game 22-7.
