Lenoir-Rhyne's University Kate Griewisch has been named the 2011 USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Women's Athlete Of The Year for indoor track and field.

USTFCCCA is the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Griewisch, a junior from Banner Elk, N.C., will compete in next week's NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., in the 5,000-meter run. The race takes place on Saturday, March 12, at 6:05 p.m., at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Griewisch holds the school record in the 5K with a time of 16:45 which she set after finishing first at the Tyson Invitational in February on the campus of the University of Arkansas.
Griewisch also achieved an NCAA Division II national indoor provisional-qualifying time in the mile (a school-record 5:05).
Griewisch is a two-time NCAA Division II All-American in women's cross country (2009-10) and has won the Southeast Regional race the past two seasons as well.
A three-time All-South Atlantic Conference Women's Cross Country First-Team honoree (2008-10), Griewisch has led L-R to back-to-back league titles in 2008 and 2009 and won the conference race in 2009.
An outstanding student-athlete as well, Griewisch has been named the SAC Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Of The Year in 2009 and 2010.
