Breitenstein Honored Again/Former Pioneer Has Georgia On His Mind PDF Print

Eric Breitenstein received another honor in his storied football career.

Breitenstein, a two-time all-state performer who led Watauga to a pair of regional championship games during his junior and senior years, was named to the 2010 Orangeburg Touchdown Club All-South Carolina Team. Breitenstein was honored Thursday, January 27. The team was made up with players from the state’s Division I-AA and Division II schools.
Breitenstein turned in a stellar season for Wofford College. The red-shirt sophomore ran for 1,639 yards and scored 22 touchdowns last fall as he led the Terriers to ten wins, a Southern Conference co-championship with Appalachian State and a national quarterfinal berth. Breitenstein was also named a first-team All-America by The Sports Network, and a second-team All-America by the Associated Press.
Overall, the team included eight All-Americans, three Conference Defensive Players of the Year and a number of All-Conference first-team selections.

Also, Zack DeBell of Tarpon Springs, FL, signed his national letter of intent with the University of Georgia on National Signing Day Wednesday. DeBell, a 6-foot-7, 265 pound offensive lineman, played at Tarpon Springs High School, and was a top recruit for the Bulldogs.
He is also the son of former Pioneer, Steve DeBell, who was a sophomore defensive tackle on Watauga High's Class 3A state championship team in 1978.  Steve DeBell went on to play at Virginia Tech following his prep career at WHS.
