A new--albeit temporary--feature for the ASU skyline rose this week in the form of a construction crane.  The arrival signaled the construction of two projects simultaneously: 1. Plemmons Student Union addition – 50,560 square feet

2. Residence hall – 10 stories plus basement, 333 beds, semi suite style with two rooms sharing a bath, 106,820 square feet.

Cost of total project—About $50 million (two funding courses—student union addition funded by student fees. Residence hall construction funded by housing fees paid by students. (this is how all new residence hall construction or renovation is funded)

In addition a utility building will house AC chillers and emergency generator to serve both buildings, and a fire pump for the buildings’ sprinkler systems.
