National signing day is just eight days away and the Appalachian State University football team is hard at work filling some voids on the recruiting trail.ASU recruiting coordinator Mark Speir says the Mountaineers want to sign at least 18 players to national letters of intent by next week. Well, it looks like ASU is well on its way. The Mountaineers all ready have 13 committments, at least so far.
And most of that help is coming on the defensive side of the ball. The most recent committments came from Thomas Bronson, a 6-foot-3, 235 pound defensive end from Hernando High School in Brooksville, FL. Bronson was the North Suncoast Defensive Player of the Year this past fall.
He had 83 tackles, 47 tackles-for-loss and a team-high 14 quarterback sacks. He also forced six fumbles and recovered one. Bronson chose ASU over Florida and Florida State.
The Apps have also received verbal committments from defensive ends Devante Harris (6-6, 248) and James Robinson (6-5, 235) of Blythewood High School in South Carolina, offensive lineman Jaron Henderson from Berea High School in Greensville, SC and wide receiver Sean Price from South Lake High School in Reston, VA.
Harris had 40 tackles and two quarterback sacks and Robinson had 67 stops and four sacks for Blythewood last season.
National signing day is set for Wednesday, February 2.
