Two Killed, Two Hurt in Storm-Related Crash PDF Print

Two people—a Florida couple—were killed in a storm-related accident in northern Ashe County late Friday afternoon at the height of the snowstorm, and two others were injured. The state patrol identified the deceased as Victor Jose Hernandez, 54, and his wife, Anna Hernandez, 50, both listing Hialeah Florida as their address. The state patrol report indicates that just as darkness fell, Victor Hernandez lost control of his vehicle traveling north on NC 16 and struck a south-bound vehicle nearly head-on near the John Halsey Road intersection.  The 5:35pm wreck closed NC 16 for much of the night as rescue, fire, medics and law enforcement worked the scene, just south of the Virginia line in Grassy Creek. There was no word on the extent of injury to the other two hurt in the crash.
