Fire totaled the home of a Boone physician off Howard’s Creek Road yesterday morning, a call answered by Meat Camp and Boone fire departments.

The 9:30am call was to Dr. Juan DeVirgiliis’ residence, 137 Calebway Road, where the structure had a working fire in the lower area, quickly working its way into the upper portion of the two-story home.  Fire officials say the family was at home when the blaze started, and had to run to a neighbor’s to report the fire. The home was destroyed in the fire, only the chimney recognizable.  Fire investigator Steve Sudderth said he had some idea about the cause, but was still investigating and had some questions to answer about the incident before finishing the determination of the cause.
