Thirteen Car Break-ins Yield One Arrest PDF Print

Between the dates of October 23, 2010, and October 28, 2010, Watauga County Sheriff’s Office received thirteen reports involving breaking and entering and larceny from motor vehicles.

The reports were from Margo Road, Browns Chapel Road, Little Laurel Road Extension, Woodhaven Trail, Rock Cliff Road and Bamboo Road. It was reported that  two Ipod’s, three Garmin GPS, Flip video recorder, Sony Walkman Mini Disk Player, Toshiba laptop computer, Nikon camera, Sprint air card, Swiss Army watch, debit card, credit card and cash were taken from the vehicles. The estimated amount of the items taken was $2250.00.
Sheriff Hagaman reported that the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office Investigative Unit conducted an intense investigation into the breaking and entering and larceny. As a result of the investigation Watauga County Sheriff’s Office Investigative Unit recovered a Toshiba laptop computer, Nikon camera, two Garmin GPS, two Ipod’s, three cell phones, TLR Focal camera, Canon camcorder, two micros S cards, and a HP USB Digital drive. More charges are expected from these reports.
As a result of this investigation the following individual was charged.
·    William John Crooks, III, W/M, DOB: 4-3-1988, a resident of 342 Bluebird Lane, Boone, NC was charged with twelve counts of Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle, nine counts of Larceny after Breaking and Entering and Feloniously Obtaining a Credit Card. He was arrested on October 29, 2010, taken before a Watauga County Magistrate and given a secured bond of $12,000.00. The court date for William John Crooks, III is December 3, 2010.
