The Watauga High volleyball team and its fans can breath a sigh of relief.

The Watauga athletic department made the announcement shortly before noon time that senior Bailey Hagaman will play in Saturday's Western Semi-Final game against Lake Norman (28-2) at Lentz-Eggers Gym. HagamanĀ  suffered a serious cut on her finger as she was helping her teammates take down the net following Thursday night's sectional final against Hough.
"It was definitely a shock," said WHS coach Kris Hagaman. "She cut up her finger taking down the net. And it is a concern. The cut is deep enough to need stitches, but we'll bandage her up and tough it out for Saturday."
Hagaman backboned Watauga's (26-3) three-set win with 39 assists. The Pioneers also set a new school record with their 26th win of the year. The Pioneers take on Lake Norman Saturday afternoon at 12:30 pm at Lentz-Eggers Gym. The winner of this match will play either Providence or Mount Tabor next Tuesday in the Western Finals.
If WHS wins, the Pioneers will host that match. The state finals will be played next Saturday, November 6 at the Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh. The Class 4A championship match begins at 12 noon.
