Giants, Bumgarner headed to World Series PDF Print

It will be the San Francisco Giants and the Texas Rangers in the World Series.

The Giants advanced on Saturday night as they held on to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 3-2 in game six of the National League Championship Series. And Madison Bumgarner, who played his high school baseball at South Caldwell, played a key role in that decision. Pitching in relief on  just two days rest, he came on and threw two scoreless innings. He got out of a bases-loaded jam in the fifth, and with a runner on at second and one out in the sixth, he struck out pinch-hitter Ben Francisco and retired JImmy Rollins on a fly ball to center field.
The Giants will host the Rangers in game one of the World Series Wednesday night. The Rangers advanced by defeating the Yankees 6-1 Friday night in game six of the ALCS.
