Three people were rushed to Watauga Medical Center from a three-vehicle wreck this afternoon in Foscoe, a collision that tied up traffic for several hours. One of the three vehicles, a Toyota Minivan, side-swiped a pick-up, (click 'full story' for pix)

then careened into the on-coming lane, striking a small Nissan head-on. The pick-up was left on the road near the center line, while a Nissan, its front smashed, was across the center line, facing the opposite direction, and the van ran off of the north side of the road, apparently nosed into the soil and flipped, landing on its side.  The two in the van, John Prunuski and his wife Rita, both in their 70's, were trapped in one of the van, causing a call for Watauga Rescue along with Foscoe Fire and Watauga Medics. Rita Prunuski was flown to Baptist Medical Center for further treatment, while the driver of the Nissan, Daniel James, of Church Hollar in Boone, was treated at Watauga Medical Center for a broken leg. His passenger was slightly hurt, according to the investigating trooper, who cited the Rockford Illinois van driver with being left of center.  Traffic on NC 105 was at a stand-still for nearly two hours while the wreck scene was cleaned up. video from scene at:  http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/10146819
