A routine traffic check by the Avery County Sheriff’s Office on last week led to the arrest Stanley, NC man on charges of DWI and felony warrants from Onslow County NC for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.  Alvin Riddle, 54, was arrested by the Avery County Sheriff’s office when he came through a traffic check point and was found to be under the influence of an impairing substance. Though a standard record check of Riddle showed only one outstanding warrant, now the Avery Sheriff’s Office is part of “Secured Communities,” his fingerprints were instantly sent to several federal agencies.  This check revealed Riddle was wanted in several states and at least two counties in NC.  Riddle was released to Onslow County to appear for a first appearance hearing for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.  Avery Sheriff’s Office is investigating whether Riddle had been living in the area unregistered.
