ARHC Scholarships PDF Print

Linville, NC (September 3, 2010) - The Cannon Memorial Hospital Volunteer Program is proud to announce the presentation of $5,500 in scholarships for 2010 to students from area schools pursuing a degree in the healthcare field.  In June of this year, the following students received scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each at the Avery County High School awards night ceremony:
  • Jerica Shanta Jones will be attending ETSU to pursue a degree in nursing.
  • Kayla Elizabeth Knecht is attending ETSU for pre-med.
  • Justin Drew Wright is attending ETSU for pre-pharmacy and pre-med.
  • Morgan Michael Stout is enrolled at NC State University pursuing a degree in biology.
Ms. Knecht and Mr. Wright have both volunteered with Cannon Memorial Hospital throughout their high school career.
On August 25, 2010, Deanna Bray of Morganton, NC and Regina Gardin of Spruce Pine, NC were awarded $750 scholarships at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Linville, NC. Cannon Memorial Hospital Volunteer Scholarship Chair, Paul Hagen, presented the awards.  Bray is enrolled in the cardiovascular sonography program at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute and Gardin is enrolled in the medical assisting program at Mayland Community College.
