According to Sheriff Len Hagaman, 45-year-old Robert Clayton Griffin was wanted by Alabama authorities on failure to appear on sexual abuse charges.  Griffin was arrested on Friday in Watauga County.

Sheriff Hagaman said Griffin’s arrest was a multi-state coordinated arrest effort and the U.S. Marshall’s Office was also involved in the investigation and arrest.

Griffin, who is originally from Birmingham, Alabama was charged as a fugitive from justice, was given a $750,000 bond, and will appear in court on December 3.

Authorities from Alabama are expected to coordinate Griffin’s return in the next few days.
