Warm, Rainy September Atop Grandfather PDF Print

Grandfather Mountain continues to see more rain than usual as nearly two-and-a-half inches more than normal fell last month atop the Mountain.

 

According to Landis Wofford, of Grandfather Mountain, 8.68 inches of rain fell at Grandfather in September, while the 54-year average is only 6.23 inches.

Total rainfall for 2009 is also up over six-and-a-half inches when compared to the average yearly rainfall total.

The average high temperature atop Grandfather was about a half of a degree warmer than usual and the average low was just over a quarter of a degree warmer than normal last month.
