Free Program About Growing Strawberries to be Held in Ashe PDF Print

It’s common knowledge that the best time to get ripe, locally grown strawberries is in late spring and early summer, but according to a state-wide agricultural organization, new developments in strawberry varieties allow growers here in the High Country to grow strawberries from June until the first frost.

Interested residents are invited to attend a free strawberry growing clinic next Monday, September 28, in Ashe County.  The clinic will begin at 3:00 that afternoon and will be put on by farmer Bill Fairchild and the North Carolina Cooperative Extension.

Interested residents can find more information and register to attend this free event by calling (336) 846-5850.
