A Conover man saved a man from a burning vehicle in Catawba County over the weekend.

WSOC-TV reports 37-year-old Christopher Kale, of Claremont, was driving his Chevrolet Blazer on Highway 16 North near Conover on Friday when he is believed to have suffered some sort of medical emergency and ran off the road.

Kale passed out and his Blazer caught fire.

Marvin Stanley, of Conover, drove past the scene and found the Blazer with Kale slumped over the steering wheel.  Stanley reportedly flagged down help and pulled Kale out of his burning vehicle.

When called a hero, Stanley said he hopes that anyone who had seen the accident would have reacted the same way.

Kale was taken to Catawba Valley Medical Center, but didn’t suffer any major injuries.  He says he doesn’t remember the crash or being pulled from the vehicle.
