A driver was taken to Watauga Medical Center this afternoon after he wrecked his passenger vehicle near the intersection of Mock Road and Highway 88 near the Tennessee state line.

According to the responding trooper with the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the male driver was the only occupant in the vehicle.  He reportedly drove left of center and struck a tree around 11:55 this morning.

The trooper said emergency personnel were able to clear the scene around 1:35 p.m.

Scanner reports indicate the driver was entrapped in his passenger car after the wreck.

The Highway Patrol said the driver’s condition is unknown.
