A Caldwell County kindergarten teacher has been suspended after being arrested for cocaine possession.

Our Foothills Bureau reports the Hickory Police Department arrested Randall Dickens, who teaches at Happy Valley Elementary in Lenoir, early Sunday morning.

Hickory Police reportedly arrested Dickens after pulling her over and allegedly finding her in possession of a half of a gram of cocaine.

Dickens was charged with one felony count of possession of cocaine and reports state that Dickens allegedly did not tell School officials about the arrest, which is required by North Carolina Law.

School officials said that they only found out about the charge after WSOC-TV alerted them to it, and that Dickens was still teaching up until Tuesday.

Dickens has been suspended with pay pending an investigation by the district.
