Community college leaders across the state will consider reversing a ban keeping illegal immigrants out of the two-year college system.

The Associated Press reports a committee of the State Board of Community Colleges will hold a special session today to consider lifting the ban and a final decision could be made by Friday.

The State Board of Community Colleges is looking at admitting undocumented students as laid-off workers continue to fill classrooms.

According to a study by the system, taxpayers wouldn’t be affected if undocumented students paid an out-of-state rate of $7,000 per year.
