Boone Fire responded to a car fire and explosion early this morning, the fire from the car spreading into a garage of the structure.  The 5:20am call was to a home on Roby Greene Road, the caller telling Watauga 9-1-1 that the car on fire exploded just as they called, and that the fire was spreading into the garage, even though the vehicle was parked outside the structure—just close enough to spread to the home.  First arriving Boone Fire units indicated they had the fire controlled in short order and no other fire companies were dispatched.  Watauga Medics and Watauga Rescue were called to the scene.
