There’s still no word on the identity of the 14-year old boy who drowned in Banner Elk, found in the waters of the Mill Pond last night.  The boy was found around 7:30 last night after a search had been launched for a boy missing from a group from Grandfather Home for Children who were at the pond with a house parent late in the afternoon.  Banner Elk Police Chief Byron Clawson said that rescue crews recovered the body of the adolescent male below the spillway at the pond after his department was notified of the missing juvenile, with reports then coming in that he had been seen jumping rocks as dusk approached.  Clawson said the name was not released due to his age and circumstances, saying only that he was from the Raleigh area. The Chief said his investigators still had a number of points under investigation, and there were issues with the notification of next of kin.
