A Johnson City woman was killed yesterday afternoon in a Carter County crash on U.S. Highway 19E involving two pickup trucks and a logging truck. The Johnson City Press says Carolyn N. Holtslaw, 60, was killed in the accident after her pickup truck first struck another pickup truck owned by the Carter County Highway Department, then slammed head-on collision with a logging truck driven by a Marion, NC man. Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Jason Andes said the Highway Department’s pickup and the logging truck were both traveling north on U.S. 19E as Holtsclaw traveled southbound. Andes said Holtsclaw’s ‘97 Dodge crossed the center line and sideswiped the Highway Department pickup driven by Steven C. Dugger, 55, Elizabethton, then crossed in the northbound lane and struck the logging truck head-on. Trucker Timmy Carl Vess, 43, Marion, N.C. was not injured.
